João Pedro is an economist currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Policy, Strategy, and Development at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). His academic and professional trajectory is focused on the analysis of public policies and institutional strategies within the energy sector, combining quantitative and qualitative approaches to evaluate regulatory impacts, competitiveness, and technological innovation. He serves as a consultant in the fields of antitrust, regulation, and public policy.
For two and a half years, he served as a researcher at the Electricity Sector Study Group (GESEL-UFRJ), participating in R&D projects and consultancy for companies in the power industry. At GESEL, he developed studies on electricity sector regulation, innovation, and the economic viability of energy projects. His work included the analysis of generation and consumption data, the review of regulatory frameworks, and the drafting of technical reports, as well as the production of specialized articles and newsletters for the energy sector.
During his Master’s studies, he served as a Teaching Assistant for the Energy Transition course, where he supported student guidance and deepened discussions on innovation, infrastructure, and policies for the evolving energy landscape. Additionally, he has participated in national seminars and conferences, presenting research on energy policy.
